This project, which entails a $1.5 billion dollar investment by the client, represents an important step in the tech sector evolution and economic development of the greater Sacramento area.
The existing facility was a legacy semiconductor manufacturer. The project takes advantage of the existing infrastructure, and leverages a highly skilled workforce, while redesigning the facility to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving EV market.
DESIGN DRIVERS
Design and construction support for the complete renovation and modernization of a facility to manufacture silicon carbide automotive computer chips.
Mackenzie worked closely with local jurisdictions to navigate the complexities of delivering a large-scale, regionally significant project.
The arrangement of the fab and subfab will be updated to accommodate the new manufacturing process.
The facility's data center will be upgraded to meet client standards, and additional data center capabilities will be added.
The Campus Utility Building (CUB or Energy Center) will be upgraded, including conveyance trestles to the fab, to support the new processes.
