The T2 Building Innovation Hub is an innovative project for Oregon Mass Timber Coalition led by the Port of Portland, connecting the dots between regional industry, demand for affordable housing, and sustainable building practices.

Awarded a Build Back Better Regional Challenge grant, the facility will manufacture modular mass timber components for affordable housing projects. It is a visionary effort: the project helps support the Pacific Northwest timber industry, provides industrial jobs on livable wages, while producing low carbon materials for much-needed housing.

DESIGN DRIVERS

This mass timber manufacturing facility provides innovative solutions to some of the region's most pressing issues.

The project is an effort of the Oregon Mass Timber Coalition, whose partners include the Port of Portland, University of Oregon, Oregon State University, The Oregon Department of Forestry, Business Oregon, the Tallwood Design Institute, and the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development.
The facility will build mass timber panels for modular homes, which will be barged and trucked from Terminal 2 to communities in need around Oregon.
It will also serve as a small business incubator, inclusive of women and diverse communities, and as a location for workforce training.
