The City of Kent and Avenue 55 hired Mackenzie to design and develop a place to engage Kent Valley's diverse populations in science, engineering, technologies, arts, and advanced manufacturing. Kent was home to the Boeing Space Center and currently houses key facilities for SpaceX, Blue Origin, and a significant array of innovative companies in this sector. The project is located on city-owned lands on the “fifty-yard line” of the Kent Valley and within the walkable grid of its historic downtown.

The team worked closely with the City, Green River College, University of Washington, a State Representative and Avenue 55 to develop a concept, campus plan and campus vision yielding a booklet for grant funding, community consensus building, industry, and university engagement.
