The project was developed over three major phases: needs assessment and site selection, office development and public/employee parking, and utility yard and operations buildings. Mackenzie was selected to provide design services from conception through construction contract administration. A key component to the success of the project development included cost evaluation to allow phased forecasting and development of the project as the client could secure loans over time. The resulting project was developed as a full-service facility combining operations and facilitating public interactions for bill paying. An important aspect of public interaction included making the boardroom available as a community room for the citizens of Canby.

DESIGN DRIVERS

A single combined facility supporting public interaction and office and operations needs.

A key driver of this project's evolution was to bring the office, administrative, and operational functions to a centrally located facility to create efficiency and enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
The aesthetic of the building was developed to complement the surrounding mix of residential, light industrial, and commercial developments.
The structure of the building was specifically designed with a pre-engineered metal frame that will allow phase two expansion of mechanic bays, welding shop, fitup bay, and maintenance bays.
Interior design surrounding flexible open office and access to natural daylighting was a key driver to the interior organization.
